5 Condo Painting Tips in Singapore

Condominium units have become so popular in Singapore nowadays for many reasons. First, they are normally located near offices, so young professionals who do not want the hassle of commuting to go to work often just rent or buy a condo unit near their work for convenience. Second, condominium units are affordable compared to buying a house and lot. Those who are just starting to earn yet want to have a place they can call their home find it a practical decision to own a condo unit instead.

Condo Painting Tips

As you have noticed, condo units look similar on the outside. However, you can make your own unit special by personalizing it with your own choices of paint colors. The way you paint the interiors of your home is a means to express your own personality and if you are given a clean canvass, you must be very excited to start splashing your choices of colors on your walls. Before you do so, here are some tips that can help you in painting your condo unit in Singapore.

1. Follow your style.

There really is no wrong or right color as long as you stay true to your taste. You will be occupying that space so you might as well like what you will see there every day. Your aim should be to please your senses, not those who will be visiting your home. Therefore, start assessing what your favorite colors are and try to blend them harmoniously. Just keep in mind that the result should be something you will not tire of looking at for the next months or years.

2. Add space with colors.

Most condo units have cramped spaces, so owners have to rely on the right interior decorating styles to make the area look larger. Usually, mirrors will do the trick, but choosing the right paint colors will help too. For instance, neutral shades like cream and white can make a room look wider and longer.

3. Follow the rule.

Interior designers have a rule called 60-30-10 when it comes to bringing color into a room. In this rule, it is said that 60% of the color should come from the painting on the walls and ceilings, 30% from the furniture, and 10% from the accessories and pieces that you add to the room. All of these elements should complement with each other, but remember where most of the color should come from.

4. Choose a theme.

Although your favorite color should be predominant in your theme, you still need to blend it with other colors. For example, red can mix well with pink or even white. Avoid adding too many colors to this theme, as it will negate the purpose of choosing a theme. Your hues of reds will no longer be recognizable if you added splashes of greens and blues to it.

5. Keep things balanced.

You may love the darkest hue of blue, but using this color to paint the entire room would be a sore to the eyes, not to mention that it will make your room look smaller. Add some breather by painting a lighter shade of blue on an adjacent wall or on the ceiling to create an illusion of space. In fact, you can have several shades of blue in a room as long as you place them strategically to keep everything balanced.
